Anya Matcha – Hojicha Roasted Tea Powder (30g)

"We’ve got our crowd favourite right here - Nutty, Buttery, with a hint of Popcorn."
Tasting Note: Caramelised Nuts, Toasty Aroma & Roasted Cocoa
Introducing Hojicha, our warming, roasted alternative to matcha—sourced from the beautiful tea fields of Yame, Fukuoka, Japan. Made from the same tea plant as matcha (Camellia sinensis), Hojicha undergoes a unique roasting process that transforms the tea leaves into a comforting, aromatic blend with a flavour all its own.
Our Hojicha is a 100% roasted autumn blend, bringing a deeper, richer profile to your cup. Expect notes of caramelised nuts, a toasty aroma, and a subtle hint of roasted cocoa. This particular blend leans on the darker roast, giving your drinks a bold, grounding flavour that’s especially perfect for the cooler season.
Naturally low in caffeine, Hojicha is a calming, cozy drink that can be enjoyed any time of day—especially as a nighttime or after-dinner drink when you’re winding down. Whether whisked as a latte or simply brewed straight, it’s the perfect companion for slower moments.
🍂 Roasted Autumn Blend: Sourced from Yame and roasted to bring out deep, caramelised notes.
🌱 Same Plant, Different Magic: Made from the same tea leaves as matcha, but roasted for a completely different flavour experience.
🧡 Toasty & Comforting: Perfect for cooler days when you want something warm, nutty, and grounding.

If you’re new to matcha, we recommend starting with our Yame Tanuki Blend (Blue Tins) it’s our best-seller and a crowd favourite for a reason. The flavour is nutty, buttery, and lightly umami, with no bitterness or astringency, making it perfect for everyday lattes or sipping straight.
Looking for something extra buttery?
Try our Yame Usagi Blend it has a richer chocolatey taste with a beautiful creamy finish.Feeling curious?
We also offer seasonal blends and single cultivars for those who want to explore different matcha profiles and dive deeper into the matcha experience. -
They’re both different, but equally beautiful! Yame (Blue Tins) is nutty, buttery, and has a popcorn-like finish, while Uji (Green Tins) is richer in umami with a more aromatic profile.
Think of Yame as slightly sweeter, and Uji as a little more savoury. -
All of our matcha at Anya Matcha is ceremonial grade, made from the first spring harvest (first flush) in Japan. It’s carefully harvested, processed and air-shipped to Australia to retain its freshness, vibrant colour, and smooth flavour.
