“Uji is the sophisticated alter ego of our Yame Signature - rich, robust, and umami, capturing the essence of classic matcha.”

For those who love deep umami matcha, our Uji Ceremonial Kitsune Blend is a true expression of Kyoto’s tea heritage. We partner with a local Uji producer who has carried this craft for over 100 years, preserving the artistry and harmony that define Uji’s tea-making legacy.

This blend brings together three celebrated Kyoto cultivars, Samidori, Uji Hikari, and Asahi, known for their refined umami and silk-like texture. Grown and stone-milled in Uji, it delivers a creamy, smooth, and deeply savoury profile with the unmistakable richness of classic Uji matcha.

Its deep green hue opens with a soft yet savory aroma, evoking warm broth and gentle nuttiness. The taste is richly umami-forward, smooth, and layered — reminiscent of kombu dashi or a delicate miso cream — with a subtle sweetness similar to white bean paste or mild chestnut.

  • If you’re new to matcha, we recommend starting with our Yame Tanuki Blend (Blue Tins) it’s our best-seller and a crowd favourite for a reason. The flavour is nutty, buttery, and lightly umami, with no bitterness or astringency, making it perfect for everyday lattes or sipping straight.

    Looking for something extra buttery?

Try our Yame Usagi Blend it has a richer chocolatey taste with a beautiful creamy finish.

    Feeling curious?

We also offer seasonal blends and single cultivars for those who want to explore different matcha profiles and dive deeper into the matcha experience.

  • They’re both different, but equally beautiful! Yame (Blue Tins) is nutty, buttery, and has a popcorn-like finish, while Uji (Green Tins) is richer in umami with a more aromatic profile.

Think of Yame as slightly sweeter, and Uji as a little more savoury.

  • All of our matcha at Anya Matcha is ceremonial grade, made from the first spring harvest (first flush) in Japan. It’s carefully harvested, processed and air-shipped to Australia to retain its freshness, vibrant colour, and smooth flavour.
